Founded in 1983, AAPM has evolved over the past more than 30 years as the premier organization for physicians practicing the specialty of pain medicine in the United States. As the practice of pain medicine has grown, a defined body of knowledge and scope of practice has emerged. Pain medicine is recognized as a discrete specialty by the American Medical Association (AMA), and AAPM is the only comprehensive pain medicine organization with representation in the AMA. At our 36th Annual Meeting, we anticipate an audience of more than 1,000 pain medicine clinicians from across the United States.
