Joanna G. Katzman, MD, MSPH Joanna Katzman, MD, MSPH, a Professor at the University of New Mexico in Neurology, is a Senior Associate Director of the ECHO Institute. She recently stepped down from directing the University of New Mexico (NM) Pain Center since 2011 in order to concentrate her efforts on the national pain and opioid crises. In 2008, Dr. Katzman began the ECHO Pain and Opioid Management teleECHO program at the ECHO Institute. This program has been replicated by the Department of Defense, the Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service and over 30 academic medical centers and the province of Ontario in Canada. Dr. Katzman is a FDA special governmental employee and has served on two Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committees related to the Gulf War and Health. Dr. Katzman is the immediate Past President of the Academy of Integrative Pain Management (formerly American Academy of Pain Management).
