Dr. Suresh is the Arthur C. King Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (formerly Children’s Memorial Hospital) and is a professor of pediatrics and anesthesiology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. He previously served as the vice chairman and director of research for the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital and as chair of its Pain Practices Committee.
Outside of Lurie Children’s, Dr. Suresh has several national and international leadership roles in the field of Pediatric Anesthesiology. He is a director of the American Board of Anesthesiology and serves as the Treasurer, chair of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Examination and Multimedia Library Committees, and serves on its Examinations, OSCE and Nonstandard Examinations Committees. He also co-chairs the SmartTots Steering Committee, which is an international private-public partnership with the FDA focused on providing safe anesthesia care for pediatric patients, researching long-term outcomes and establishing guidelines. He is currently on the Executive Committee for Annual Meeting Oversight (AMOC) of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), the board of trustees for the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) and the ACGME Anesthesiology Review Committee. In addition, he lectures extensively both nationally and internationally and is well published on the topic of pediatric anesthesiology.
In addition, he also holds an MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.
