Elizabeth B. Habermann, PhD MPH Mayo Clinic

Dr. Habermann is a professor of health services research at the Mayo Clinic with a specific focus in surgical care. As the Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Scientific Director for Surgical Outcomes Research, she leads teams that utilize both institutional and national data to study the quality and outcomes of surgical care. Over the past few years, Dr. Habermann has been studying opioid prescribing at discharge from surgery, resulting in the development and implementation of evidence-based, specialty-specific, procedure-specific opioid prescribing guidelines that have demonstrably impacted patient care. Within Mayo Clinic, she serves as the chair of the acute prescribing subgroup within the Mayo Clinic Opioid Stewardship Program Oversight Group, and she has participated nationally on the National Quality Forum's Opioid Stewardship Action Team and the CDC Opioid Prescribing Estimates Workgroup.
